A Twist In My Story

I think 3rd quarter is the worst out of the 4. I have a DBQ (Document-Based Questions for you Canadians that don't know) for Global about the Islamic Empire, Byzantine Empire and the Tang & Song Chinese Dynasty Golden Ages, a research paper, and about a gazillion tests. Plus it's the teetering point that winter slowly disinegrates into the long, rainy, and drawn out process of spring. I'm all for warmer weather, but it's the whole getting there that I don't like. Today for example, it was like 5 degrees with the wind chill. Now this time next week it's going to be around 50, then it's just going to get freezing again. It's torture!

Anywho, I'm thinking about applying to Word of Life to be Staff over the summer (June 28th {or so, it's whenever I get out of school} till August 9th {I still want a birthday party while my cousins are in town!}. I went to Word of Life Ranch several years ago, and I pretty much loved it. But I don't have any idea what the age requirement is, so I'm supposed to be getting an e-mail sometime tomorrow or the next day. Like I said, I'm just thinking about it...

-Oh, If anyone doesn't know what Word of Life is, it's a Christian Bible Camp from 6 year olds to 18 year olds. The Ranch is for 1st - 6th graders. The Island is for 7th - 12th graders.

Tomorrow: CHUCK E. CHEESE with VPT! Haha, I can't wait. ;]
Saturday: Babysitting my cousins.
Sunday: UNITED!!

By the way, I'm watching American Idols elimination round and David A. is so going to win, and by far I might confidently add. He's the best out of the guys, and I have yet heard any girls that were anything special.

Update: The minimum age is 14. So I think I'm going to do it...

You Dismantle Me

Just a few things I've learned over the past few days:

  1. Girls like sending pictures to guys? For whatever reason, I still do not understand why. The repercussions of that action should be enough for anyone to think twice... Right?
  2. Anberlin is amazing.
  3. Forever 21 and H&M are some pretty awesome stores.
  4. Some incredible pictures.
  5. Something is wrong with my eyes.
  6. I'm ridiculously SMALL compared to the size of the universe. If the universe is the widthspand of God's hand... Why does He even care about teeny tiny me? It's just like... wow.

Lunar Eclipse!

{Click to Enlarge}

I stayed up to get a few pictures of the lunar eclipse last night. It was the best that I could do with my camera. Haha.

Today I'm pretty much doing nothing, so if you want to do something don't be afraid to call! =]

Stuff and Such

It's winter break and I-and the rest of NY-have a week off from school. It's extremely boring, which is why I applied for a job today... Now it's only a matter of them calling me back. I need a job for just 1 reason. I really need the money. I need a car, and everything else that comes with a car. i.e. - insurance, gas money, blahblahblah. Plus, I'm supposed to pay for half of what it costs to go to camp this year, about 300 dollars for Lift, & if I want to go anywhere else this summer, I have to pay for it too. Or at least half of it... Anyone need a babysitter?

Anyway I guess I'll recap about Sunday because I went to another youth group, which I have not done in years...

Sunday night I went with Kayla and a few of our friends went to her youth group. It wasn't their normal youth group, because they had another church with them, but still... It was like a breath of fresh air, no lie. It was more low-key, less hectic, and much smaller.
After being with Northway for 3-4 years, that's the exact opposite of what I've been accustomed too. After the allowed hangout time, we watched a few homemade videos and then we were given 4 groups to choose from. Evangelism, Drama, Band, or Art. (I chose Evangelism because, unfortunetly, I hold no talent in music, acting, or anything to do with drawing. I'm not too good in the public speaking area either, but it's not as bad as the other 3.) Kayla and the rest of the crew came with me, as with 20 other people, and we met the leader of the group and his name is Chris. He's pretty awesome. Plus, he's the guy that does all the videos, so Kayla and I are going to be in the next video. ;] But it was informing and interesting to learn more about evangelism.

It was cool to see and be apart of another youth group. To be an "outsider" where no one knew me for once instead of being apart of the group and most everyone knowing me. It definitely made me think about the perspective of a newcomer to UNITED. (And I'm going with Kayla again this Sunday! =])

United Serves!

Tonight a bunch of us helped out the facilities team at the Malta campus for a few hours, and it was a lot of work... But it was so much fun. It was really nice to see -most- everyone again. Formerly known as Nine12 Serves, we basically just help out wherever we're needed.

I have pictures, so check them out!!

After we cleaned we went to taco bell and hung out there for a bit, then Alicia dropped me off at my house... By the way, she get's to go to Hawaii this week. I'm SO jealous.

Can't wait for next month! =]

Sorry it's such a short post, but I'm tired and I want to go to bed...

American Idol

I love American Idol, so it's probably a little early to be picking my favorite since we're only in Hollywood...
But I'm going to anyway.

David Archuleta!!!! He's freakin adorable and I want him to win. I've liked him since the auditions in San Diego.

<3 hahaa

Secret Valentine

Another snow day! Last year around this time, we had a snow day too... And I started blogging on Valentines day! It would be my 1 year marker... If I blogged for an entire year.
Ohh well.

For lack of anything else to blog about, I'll blog about what's going on for the rest of the week, in whatever order I think of first:

  • Nascar! I love Nascar. Sunday is the Daytona 500, and I'm pumped!
  • Of course, Valentines day. It's always a nice little reminder - for people that don't have a boyfriend or girlfriend - that you're still single.
  • Possibly Movies/mall with Kayla and Mary on Saturday, so I can meet Marys boyfriend!! Plus I want to see Step Up 2.
  • Saturday I'm going to both services, so say hi!

I found these two bands that I am loving right now:

  • We the Kings
  • Making April

Simple Plan & Natasha Bedingfeild came out with new albums too, and I think they're alright.

Photography

Most anyone that knows me knows that I really like photography. I'm pretty obsessive about it, even if I don't say anything. I usually think to myself, 'If only I had my camera... That'd be an awesome picture...' because I don't carry it with me, and I mentally kick myself for not doing so. If I see a good opportunity to go outside and take some pictures, I'll do it, but not very often. {I don't like the cold.} Sometimes I wish I could go and take my car and go for a drive and take pictures... But {for now} that's only a wish.

A little while ago, I decided to go outside and take some pictures. They're decent {for a canon powershot} I wouldn't say amazing. Maybe someday when I have a little bit more self-confidence, I'll show them... There is this course, called 'Digital and Technical Photography' that I really, really want to take next year. I hope I'll be able to...

I found this
blog randomly, and I absolutely love her photography and her editing. Go to 'Archives' to see more of her pictures.

My Favorite Superbowl Commercial

I thought this video was so hilarious!
There were a few other funny ones - with the guy flying out of the mouse hole in the doritos commercial, and the talking baby - but I didn't find any that were really funny. I laughed so hard when I saw this though...

Fun Few Days

Yesterday was the United/Superbowl Party. I had the best time, like I do every United.
From Sarah and I screaming pointlessly at the screen when the Patriots got an interception, or when they got a touchdown, to Caroline, Sarah and I making a video while sucking helium out of balloons. Good times.

Today for gym, most of us thought we were going swimming - including me - because we were told that last class. Apparently, we heard incorrectly because we went bowling. I really hate carrying my swimming stuff to and from school. Anyway, we got to the bowling alley and then a friend of mine, Mary comes up to me and asks, "So... What are we going to do? We don't have socks."
I looked down. She was right, we both were wearing flats. I cringed at the thought of going sockless in bowling shoes. So we tried talking to our gym teacher, and the guy handing out shoes, but were shut down with two "You have to wear the shoes."
Our gym teacher told us that this girl last block came up with the idea of putting toilet paper in the bottom of the shoes...
That was exactly what we did. Mary was absolutely disgusted.
"I would rather lick a toilet seat than do this."
Haha. It was a long 60 minutes. It was bad taking off the shoes, because the toilet paper stuck to our feet...

Good Night!

It's February!

Today is going to be uneventful.
I woke up at 5:30 to get ready for school, and a little bit later (around 6:15) I turn on the tv to make sure that we did have school because of an impending monster icestorm. There were no delays or closings. So I continue my routine and at 6:50 (5 minutes before my bus is supposed to arrive) my sister screams upstairs, "No school!!"
She got a text from one of her friends... If it wasn't for her friend, we would've been standing outside for awhile.

Seriously, what's the point of getting ready to go somewhere if you're stuck home all day?
It's annoying!!!
They waited for the last possible minute to announce that we had no school... Stupid.
